PT Sessions at Core Dynamics PH

I tried calling Medicard the following day to schedule an appointment with whoever doctor they think should check on my knee. Buti na lang walang sumagot. Haha! Coach Ryan and Coach Ashley recommended that I go visit Trixie (Bacani). Hindi ko naman kilala si Trixie. 😦 They did mention her clinic and her surname, but my listening skills failed me (as always). I had to google her up and found Core Dynamics. ❤

Session 1 (December 8, 2016)

I booked an appointment for an Initial Consultation and Physiotherapy Treatment using the “Book Now” button on their FB page. They had a promo, so I got it for PHP 2,000. I arrived at the Yoga+ Express Studio, which is where the Core Dynamics place is located, and changed into my sports wear. Waited for the session before me to finish. Then I met Trixie. Super nice person. As in. 🙂 She asked me to fill up a form, then asked me questions on when and where do I feel the pain. Then she used this cool app on her iPad! Medyo kakahiya lang. She asked me to squat while she videos me using her PT app.

That’s not me. 😛 Si Coach Marco Yulo yan.

Tapos she showed me why I feel my knee pain. I was born flat footed. I don’t have an arch on my feet. Tapos takbo pa ko ng takbo, so my IT band, glutes, and calves were so tight that my knees were over compensating dahil medyo hindi na working ng tama yung muscles ko. 😦 I tried to understand most of what she said, pero parang onti lang napulot ko. Haha! After the assessment, comes the treatment. PT, for me, now stands for PAIN TORTURE. She loosed up the back of my legs and the front of my legs and my glutes AKA the pwet.

Session 2 (December 15, 2016)

The pain from session 1 paid off. I didn’t feel that much pain during the WODs and my knees were hardly clicking anymore. (Yey!). Session 2 (Functional Manual Physiotherapy) focused on my calves. I’ve been having muscle spasms on that area since my run last May. Hindi daw kasi ako nagsstretch ng tama (or at all). Trixie made my calves loose at the expense of my pain. Hahahaha! Sobrang sakit, swear. Yung inhale exhale ng buntis na nanganganak na yung ginagawa ko kanina. WITH TEARS!!! Nung natapos na, she taped my right knee to support my knee caps. This session costs PHP 1,850 (PHP 1650 for the treatment, PHP 200 for the taping service).

It’s a bit pricey, BUT if you’re on the active side of life, things like this will help you improve how your body moves. Malay ko bang yung pagka-flat footed ko ang dahilan ng sakit ng tuhod ko😐

I really recommend a visit for anybody who feels recurring (unusual) pain during the CrossFit WODs or any workout. Trixie’s amaaaazing. 🙂
